Have you ever seen a botanical subject and wished you could capture its graceful form? Join our Fall Featured Artist Sarah Wry for these Friday morning botanical drawing workshops. Using basic shapes and gesture lines, learn contour drawing with an emphasis on proportion, and explore techniques such as foreshortening, perspective, and line weight. Sarah will provide instruction to meet everyone at their level of experience.
Drawing materials will be provided, but participants are also welcome to bring their own. A materials list will be sent out to all who register. The workshops will focus on dried and preserved botanicals in one of the sunlit rooms of the historic Greeley House. Come for one, two, or all three!
Workshop registration includes same-day admission to our Fall Featured Artist exhibition.
About the Instructor
Sarah Wry is a botanical artist, art instructor, and the 2026 Fall Featured Artist at the New Castle Historical Society. She spent nearly 20 years working in forest conservation and animal welfare in her native UK and the USA but always loved to draw and paint. In 2011 after starting a family, she decided to return to art full time and completed the prestigious New York Botanical Garden (NYBG) Botanical Illustration certificate program in 2016. She now divides her time between her studio and teaching Botanical Illustration at NYBG.
