After Princeton, Alfred D’Alessandro studied screenwriting with the legendary Frank Daniel at Columbia University. Frank is credited with mentoring film greats Milos Forman (One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Amadeus) at the University of Prague. And developing the careers of David Lynch (The Elephant Man) and Terence Mallick (Days of Heaven) at the American Film Institute.
D’Alessandro credits Frank for The B-Side of Paradise—his first prose work. “Frank taught me everything I know about narrative structure, character development and how to transfer those lessons to the written word.”
He is currently working on a prequel to The B-Side, God, Sex, Dad & War to the Age 17—an homage to the great writer and monologuist Spaulding Gray.
