YEAR-END APPEAL
Paint the Greeley House
We have identified an urgent need to preserve a cornerstone of Chappaqua’s history: the exterior of the Horace Greeley House must be repainted. Exposure to the elements has degraded the historic wood siding, putting the house at risk of long-term damage. A fresh coat of paint will not only restore its charm but also protect this treasured landmark for future generations.
OUR GOAL IS TO RAISE $15,000 TO MAKE THIS PROJECT POSSIBLE
•$50 buys one gallon of paint 🖌️
•$100 provides materials to repair weathered wood 🪚
•$250 pays for labor for a day👷♀️
•$500 or more helps ensure completion of the project 🏠
WHY YOUR SUPPORT IS SO IMPORTANT!
•Preserving History: The Horace Greeley House, built in 1853, is a tangible connection to our town’s founding. It was home to Horace Greeley, a trailblazing journalist, politician, and advocate for progressive change. Keeping it in good repair ensures that this history is preserved for generations to learn from and enjoy.
•Community Pride: The Greeley House is a Chappaqua icon, standing proudly on King Street as a reminder of our shared past. Your support keeps it beautiful and welcoming for everyone who visits.
•Educational Value: As a hub for school programs, tours, and exhibits, the Greeley House inspires thousands each year. Protecting the building means continuing to offer these enriching experiences.
