Welcome to the New Castle Historical Society. We invite you to tour the historic Horace Greeley House and gardens, view our permanent and rotating exhibits, and take advantage of our many educational and family programs. In addition, we offer research opportunities with access to our library and archives. Visit our museum shop online or in person.
Horace Greeley House was built between 1852 and 1854 during the rapid development of downtown Chappaqua after the arrival of the railroad. The house was the country home of the Greeley family from 1864 until 1873.
Visit our garden and enjoy the quiet oasis within our downtown. Several of the beds include plants of the Greeley era such as lavender, yarrow, sunflowers, horehound, dill, and more.
Step back into history and tour what was the former country home of the Greeley family from 1864 until 1873. Group tours (10 or more) are available by advance reservation only. Please contact the office to schedule a tour.
The Museum Shop is located at the New Castle Historical Society. The shop features a selection of seasonal gifts as well as many unique Chappaqua & Millwood items. Shop in person or online.
